Blah

Time to get ready for winter, Mom. It's getting a little colder. We'll put up bubble wrap on the window, make draft dodgers on the bottom of the doors, we've got fleece blankets over the French doors.

I want to hang canvas in the craft room (your bedroom) to cut down the living space.  I've set up a computer up for my writing.  It's not connected to the internet and few programs at this point = few distractions.  Its a way to get myself to focus on the writing.  I need to treat this as more of a job (one that I love and dislike sometimes).  I am a writer.

I'm behind schedule for my November writing, darn it!

I thought it would be a simple project to hang the canvas. We're using one that already has the top slip for a curtain rod.

Plan: tack up the canvas, settle into my den and write.

Day 1: Jackie on a step stool putting the canvas up with push pins.
Outcome: Hmmm, no go. The tacks won't hold for long, especially if I'm pulling it aside to get into that area of the room.

Okay, switch the plan to plan Bet

Plan: get hooks and a long pole, screw in hooks into studs and hang the rod and curtain.

Day 2: go to Home Depot and spend the next 45 minutes trying to find what will work.  Calling Jackie for advice and thoughts. Looking from one end of the store to the other several times.

Settled on hooks that screw in.  The type of hooks I hang my hammock from.  Okay, 4 of those and a long rod.  Don't really want to use an 11' closet rod, those are a bit thick but I need something that isn't going to collapse from the weight of the canvas.  Check out lots of wood, plastic, PVC and pipe.  I settled on a 11' long square piece. Not sure what it's normally used for.  It's small but holds up pretty well, especially if we use 3-4 hooks.  Also investigate and call Jackie with the thought of getting insulation and start insulating the floor/garage ceiling.

Okay: what size? It has to be "faced" meaning a sturdy side that will keep the insulation from falling.  Got one roll.  We'll get more, of course. Between bubble wrap, draft dodgers, small heaters and the house heater, we should do fairly well on conserving energy while still staying warm.

Well, that took forever to decide which to start with.

Day 3: hurting too bad to deal with the curtain thing.

Day 4: okay, find the studs and work in the hooks.......find the studs......find the studs....where the hell are the studs running East-West?  Jackie has to drag in the larger ladder and look in the attic with a strong flashlight.  Okay, the main studs run North/South about every 14 inches or so.

Or so.  Drill a couple holes, nope.  Tap, tap, tap.  Tap, tap, tap(2squared)

Okay, tired after scrubbing the dining room floor and straightening up in there which hurts my neck and shoulders and settles right at the base of the spine, flaring up my pain levels from the L4-L5 disks disability.

It gets hard living with the pain sometimes, Mom, as you know.

Plan Vet
Get planter hooks with the anchors and hang 4 of them to keep the weight dispersed and easier to keep up.

<sigh>

on a side note: I don't believe fried eggs are in my immediate future.  I've tried them twice and each time I've hit a wall, tossed down into a deeper level of depression with no connection to anything - it doesn't feel like the normal depression I go through and live with and this depression is a bit frightening.

So, no more fried eggs - I'll retest them in six months or so.

I cleaned the dining room, worked in the craft room and finished the edges on a new fleece blanket for Jackie. Experimented with some new stitching that worked out really well as edging.  Yay!

Now, back to writing, if I can.  I also have a Claude Rains drawing started that I definitely need to work on and working up patches for my hoodie.

Yes, I know my room and some clothes look like a 15 yr old teenage male.
