Recovery and Bad News

Hey, Mom;

We heard from Miss Ellen.  I was afraid when I saw the envelope that it was Debbie writing to give us bad news about her mom.  It wasn't.  It was Miss Ellen telling us that Debbie had undergone brain surgery for cancer and was in a rest home because Miss Ellen can't give her the care she needs and the prognosis isn't good at all.

Miss Ellen just turned 91.

We're going to increase our letters and cards to her.  So damn hard for her.

It's been a week and I'm beginning to recover from the weekend trip to see Alice Cooper.  I still can't believe I was on stage, Ma!  Getting to tell him that he's an inspiration for getting sober and staying there (haven't gotten drunk or binged since 1987), that was major.

"Good girl! Wait, when did you get sober, when you were nine?!"

Made my day on top of everything else.

It's turned colder. I was in shorts and sleeveless t-shirts 4 days ago - yesterday I was in sweats and looking for my electric blanket.  We got the windows closed and it might not be long before we hang the canvas up in the house to reduce the spaces that we try to heat.

Still get tired really easily.  I go in for a biopsy on a weird spot on my skin and I need them to look at the place where I had those pre-basal cancer cells on my arm.  A little disturbing.

I miss Deacon at times.  We had him for so long.  I sometimes can't wait to see all of them.  I don't believe Rabbi Shlomo and his belief that animals have no souls. We know they do.

Love and miss you, Mom
