Day 13

Mom;

We did something surprising today: we went through boxes and tubs in the garage/basement. We organized the cabinets in the kitchen and went through boxes we thought might be kitchen boxes and tubs to see if we had more stuff packed away and what.

Man, you have a lot of crystalware! And cups! We found Grandpa's cup and several that we got for Grandma over the years.  I remember Grandpa's cup. An actual memory.  I had a couple of those with some of the bowls and plates and stuff we found.

We fond some odds and ends too, I remember that little ceramic skunk from when I was a kid.

We're getting rid of very little just yet and that's okay. We sure aren't getting rid of your crystal.  A couple of little things are being donated. Box of fancy decorative soaps, a couple of tea light holders, things like that. We're also throwing away kitchen and bathroom stuff that is out of date that might have been tossed in a box a decade ago.

Something that is puzzling. We have a LOT of lids to pots and pans and don't seem to have the pots and pans to match. WTH?

We kept at it for a couple of hours and eliminated probably 10 boxes and brought up three tubs of stuff.  One tub is games that we need to clean with the antiseptic wipes and then take back downstairs again.  We're not ready to tackle your room, Mom.

We're going to move your bed back where it was originally and set up the other end of the room as a craft area.  Jackie and I are SO hoping we don't have to rent the room out to make ends meet. That would really suck, especially with how antisocial we can both be on top of the PTSD we both deal with. Having a stranger move in would be mega-stressful.

This sucks, Mom.

Oh, Lee called tonight to check on us. I got his new address so we can send him a Christmas card. He said that he put everything he had saved down on the house (and got a couple of new things, fridge, toilet, etc) and with his credit, no one else's - that's a huge accomplishment for him.  He said he's been a little doubtful about Tracy's sincerity about getting back together, does she love him or is it just that she had no where to go? He thinks it is love and is going to make a good go of it.  I wish him all the luck in the world! He's been through a lot over the years, some of it his own fault but he's continuing to try and keep moving forward and stay into his sobriety.

He said that his mom, Darla, made the card that she sent Jackie and me. Gotta tell you that it is beautiful and I never guessed it was homemade. Its a very fancy card. She could probably go into business doing that.

I feel like I want to curl up and not do anything a lot of the time right now.
